Welcome to ISSCG-16 in Lake Biwa, Shiga, Japan

September 2, 2014

We are pleased to announce that the 16th International Summer School on Crystal Growth will be held in Lake Biwa, Shiga, Japan on August 1-7, 2016, in conjunction with 18th International Conference on Crystal Growth and Epitaxy (in Nagoya on August 7-12, 2016). The venue of the school will be Doshisha Biwako Retreat Center of Doshisha University: it will take about 1.5-2.0 hours from Nagoya and 0.5-1.0 hour from Kyoto. Researchers who are playing active roles in frontiers of wide-ranging fields of crystal growth will give lectures on a wide array of topics. Students will therefore have an opportunity to systematically learn about crystal growth from its fundamentals to its application. In addition, we are also planning to hold experimental courses and poster presentations. We cordially invite you to join the stimulating summer school under the friendly and at-home atmosphere.

Basic Concepts

Researchers playing active roles in extending the frontiers of a wide range of fields in crystal growth will give lectures on a wide array of topics ranging from instructive topics to the latest topics. Students will therefore have an opportunity to systematically learn about crystal growth from its fundamentals to its applications. All the lecturers and students will stay in the same accommodation for six days. The friendly and homely atmosphere will be a valuable opportunity for both lecturers and students to share information and learn from each other.

Features

In addition to stimulating lectures, we are also planning to hold five courses to promote enthusiastic discussion, including experiments and simulations. Lecturers will also participate in the discussion. Through such discussion, students will obtain a deeper understanding of crystal growth. We also plan to hold poster presentations in which students can have in-depth discussions with lecturers and other participants.
