In 2001, under the second-year presidency of Dr. Shigeyuki Kimura, it was decided that JACG was not held due to the effort for the joint conference of ICCG-13 and ICVGE-11. This was held during July 29 – August 4, 2001 at Doshisha University Kyoto campus. Some 1246 including accompanied persons attended and 1137 presentations were included in the final program. Four hundred thirty one papers out of 699 submissions were accepted for publication in the Proceedings. Prof. Tatau Nishinaga and Prof. Kiyoshi Takahashi were the chairpersons of the Organizing Committees of ICCG-13 and ICVGE-11, respectively. JACG held general assembly during ICCG-13 and issued 4 domestic awards for distinguished papers and technological accomplishments. Prior to ICCG-13 and ICVGE-11, ISSCG-11 was held at Doshisha Biwako Retreat Center. Twenty five lectures were given in and 122 including 9 accompanied persons attended to this tutorial seminar. In this year JACG published 5 issues of Journal of the Japanese Association for Crystal Growth (volume 28). Other activities of JACG in 2001 included 4 symposia by Bulk Crystal Growth Subdivision. Newly started subdivision on Thin Films and Epitaxy changed its name slightly to Nano-structure and Epitaxy Subdivision. The total registered JACG members were 904.

In 2002, under the new presidency of Prof. Tadashi Ohachi, JACG held the 32th NCCG in Nagano by the support of Shinshu University members and 27th Summer School on Crystal Growth at Shiga-kogen Prince Hotel. The attendants of 32th NCCG were 257. One hundred fifty nine papers were presented in addition to 3 invited talks. In this NCCG, there was a special session for discussion on future prospect of JACG. Also as a new attraction, a symposium for ultra-violet light emitters was held. JACG started placing presentation-encouragement awards to young membersf conspicuous presentations.   The summer school participants were 75. The topical subject was gvirtual crystal growth.h This year JACG published 5 issues of Journal of the Japanese Association for Crystal Growth (volume 29). Other activities of JACG in 2002 include 6 symposia by Bulk Crystal Growth Subdivision and a symposium by Nano-structure and Epitaxy Subdivision. Three distinguished members, namely Profs. Isam Akasaki, Jun-ichi Chikawa, and Tomoya Ogawa, were selected for the honorary memberships. The total registered JACG members were 864.

In 2003, under the second-year presidency of Prof. Tadashi Ohachi, a change in administration was proposed and approved. The change was to place the president-elect as the Next-President. Prof. Takatomo Sasaki was elected. Also the previous President was included in the Board of Executive Committee. This aims at a smooth take-over of management. JACG held the 33rd NCCG at Osaka University Suita Campus and 28th Summer School on Crystal Growth at Doshisha Biwako Retreat Center. Two hundred thirty six attended in the former. One hundred forty eight papers were presented in addition to 3 invited talks and two award winnersf presentations. Seventy eight attended in the latter, for which the topical subject was ghow to observe nucleation.h JACG published 5 issues of Journal of the Japanese Association for Crystal Growth (volume 30). Other activities of JACG in 2003 include 4 symposia by Bulk Crystal Growth Subdivision and 3 symposia by Nano-structure and Epitaxy Subdivision. The total registered JACG members were 844. Two distinguished members, namely Prof. Jun-ichi Nishizawa and Dr. Shin-ichi Takasu were selected for the honorary memberships.
